Swipe In From the Right

I have a gen 2 iPad Pro and was reading some Tips and Tricks for IOS 10 as I get used to it. Oh, I have had various ipads since 2012 so not a newbie. I read that you can change apps by swiping in from the right to choose another of your apps. But, for example, if I am in Safari, and want to switch to another app I have, all I can bring up is my Mail App with its emails showing. Happens every time like this. What am I doing wrong, how can I get more of my apps to choose from?

Never Mind - I did what I should have done in the first place....watched how to on youtube. Split screen is a very neat feature!

You'll certainly find out how on youtube. But if you swipe right, you then swipe down from top to show all apps available to choose for split screen.

That worked on my mini 3 but only slide over .
