Loving iOS 14 in general, one bug bear is the cumbersome nature of inline replies on iMessage. Why doesn't Apple adopt the swipe to reply like WhatsApp uses. Its far more intuitive and less cumbersome than holding down and selecting reply. In some ways it deters you from even using it even though it is extremely useful.

I'm trying to understand what you're describing. In Messages there's an open reply field below the last message. Where/how are you using it by holding [something] down and selecting reply? That seems like more work than just typing in the reply field.

In iOS 14 you can now have in line conversations, so for example:
Him: What time is it?
Him: Where do you want to go tonight?
Him: What's the address?
Normally you would just answer in reply box:
Her: 7pm
But that reply would be out of context to the previous question.

But in iOS 14, you can now hold the txt 'what time is it?' and select reply and will give:
Him: What time is it?
Her: 7pm

So that the answer is replied in the same context of the question. This isn't the best description, but the principle is there. This is much more useful in group conversation when multiple people maybe asking multiple questions and makes a conversation easier to follow.

WhatsApp does this using by simply swiping on the specific question, but for iOS Messages you have to hold and select reply which is cumbersome.

You can double tap on a message and click reply to do the in-line reply. Whether or not that's any better is up to the user. The swipe option sounds cool though. I've never used WhatsApp, so I'm not familiar with it.

Thanks for that, that is a better option than holding down and choosing reply, I never knew that. Thanks!

P.S. the swipe to reply is still better personally
