Hi, there is a way or a software to switch from headphones internal speaker on the iMac without unplug the headphones cable? When I boot the iMac with the headphones plugged in, can I hear the boot sound from the internal speaker.

I use USB headphones so I can have mic input as well as sound and I use a program called Soundsource from Rogue Amoeba software that let's you change the output quickly and easily from a pulldown menubar. It's nice to be able to toggle back and forth where you want the sound/music output.

Dunno if that helps or not, but it works quite well if your situation could be the same.

I thought of usb headphones, but to be more detailed, to the headphones output I connected my tv so I can watch movies on tv using the iMac as player.
