I’m new to Apple Music and have bought the HomePod however I come from Spotify and everything worked flawless there. I can’t find the option to switch music playing on the HomePod to the iPhone, for example when I leave the house and want to play on my iPhone. Am I doing something wrong?

I don't have a HomePod (can't buy it here yet) but as far I know it's not possible.
That's one of the drawbacks with apple and iOS.

How about return the HomePod until Apple finishes developing it. It's missing some pretty important features. You know like really basic features such as Profiles, if you have multiple people in your house. I guess if you're single and live alone then profiles aren't as important. But still a very basic yet important feature for when the owner leaves. Siri is still half baked, functional but not very relevant and only understands specific commands. It's also missing the stereo play for syncing two HomePods and Bluetooth for guests without an iPhone.

Go into the control center. Press down on the music portion. You should see your music (iPhone) and your HomePod. Tap on whichever one you want to play. Tap again and it'll bring you to the music app. Hope that helps.

I agree that it needs more work, but updates are coming.

I had this problem today as well. Started music w Siri to HomePod, left the house and wanted to transfer the music to my phone. I’m able to get to the music app and see the song playing but when I tried to tap the source button it wouldn’t let me switch away from the HomePod.
