Switch from Mac -> PC :(

Hi everyone,
I have to switch back to the Windows platform. The functions I needed on a Windows computer; Media Center Capabilities, Gaming, and some apps that do not work on the Mac.
Luckily, Apple made iTunes for Windows, otherwise I would go crazy.

However:
How do I import Apple Mail.app messages, settings, and folders to the PC? (Outlook 2003)



Its sad, but true. I've been a Mac user forever, but the switch was necessary. Good bye, Apple for now....

Why not use both. Keep your windows for stuff you need to do, and use the Mac for everything else... Of course next year you will be back since the intel chips will be released Hopefully you can use VPC or boot into windows.

My powerbook will actually go to my sister because her "PC" ironically died. My sister has been using the iMac G4 until it broke about 1 month ago and has been sitting in repair for a long time. She needs a computer.

She needs a system so i'm going to give her my laptop and I will get a "dell" Inspiron 9300: Centrino 1.7ghz, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 100GB HD, Bluetooth/Wifi, DVD Burner, 17" Dell TrueLife LCD, and: nVidia GeForce 6800 256MB Graphics card. The downside is that: its a PC, and going to be heavy.
I'm looking around in google, and cannot find any solutions yet. I'm thinking of importing my messages to entourage and then drag the messages to a folder, which outlook might import later.
The laptop is still in the "boxing" phase, hopefully I will get it next week. I'll let you know what happens.

Anyways, does anyone have any other solutions?

why switch? why not just get a pc also? that is what i have, I only use my PC for gaming but i still have one....but you dont have to "switch"

I cannot afford both, and my sister needs a computer to use. At least, I'll have a mac "handy" when needed though. In the future, when Apple Intel laptops come out, I might consider switching back if it can dual-boot.

be careful if you're going for a 9300. i had a 6000d for a few weeks (15" version of 9300) and it was friggin loud. i dont know if that bothers you, just a consideration. and don't worry about switching back to pc. i did it because of price issues (athlon 64 versus powermac ) and it's not that bad. sorry, but cant help with the email issue

Guys, the question was, "how do I import my mail"....

You are probably not going to be able to import settings, rules and groups.

The general method is to move your email into Outlook Express on the PC, then use the Outlook Import Wizard to bring it into Outlook

If you have only a few email messages in a few folders, you can email the emails to yourself as attachments, then recreate the folders manually in Outlook Express, receive the emails with the attached email files, and drag them manually into the Outlook Express folders.
