switch from Parallels to VM Ware Fusion

since is soon going to arrive that time of the year where Parallels will ask to pay for a new license, I was looking into their license agreement since almost all of the software let people use 1 license on all their macs

but guess what, Parallels says no... 1 mac = 1 license
even Adobe let me install Photoshop Elements on 2 machines

so I guess that I will move to VM Ware Fusion, 1 license = all personal mac

I read that is possible to import Parallels virtual machine, does it mess up anything? would windows need to be reactivated?

I need windows to test on IE browser and few other things, how does fusion compare to parallels?

I successfully imported Parallels VM in Fusion some time ago. I made sure I have a backup on separate disk, just in case. Fusion (~year ago?) was slightly slower than Parallels, not really enough to bother me. Ended up keeping Parallels for unrelated reasons.
If Windows need to be activated probably depends on type of license you have and activation method that use etc. I had Win 7 retail version which did not need to be reactivated, or activated itself automatically. With Win 10, I have no idea. The good news is, that you can move everything to Fusion and test it, while the Parallels will keep working. If all works, you can get license for Fusion and abandon Parallels.
Parallels licensing is annoying.

I did not know it was possible to buy a license after trying Fusion

do you know how is this version of Fusion life cycle? is like parallels atet each september / october ask for an upgrade?
