Hey, running a RAID on my system but I am wondering if I could switch the raid off for a specific user. So I run one user account for private and one for work. I don't really need it for work and it is very annoying because the computer is always unresponsive for some time after sleep since the hard disks have to spin up.

So can I set the external disk for only the private user, not the work user?

Thanks

One possibility would be to use something like the free app called DiskArbitrator. When you are in your work user account, you would eject the Raid drives and activate (set check box) the DiskArbitrator which would prevent the ejected Raid drives from being mounted. When you switch back to your private non-work account you would deactivate (uncheck box) DiskArbitrator and mount the Raid drives in your private user account. You would only need to have DiskArbitrator running in your work user account as that is where you control whether the Raid drives are prevented from being mounted. The app is supported for Catalina.

thanks for the idea - so nothing out of the box in OSX?
