Switcheasy NUDE - the 3G case is different!

Starting a new thread to alert anyone who is looking to buy this case. I asked their CS about the loose top fit and got this response, showing that the 3G fit model is not out yet!

Dear Jennifer,

We made a mistake and sent you the WIFI case which is slightly different than the 3G iPad model, which is yet to be released. There is a slight difference between the 2 cover, but enough to make a noticeable squicking sound ! Really Sorry! The top portion of the iPad where the antenna is located, is slightly different on the 3G model, so we will have to send you the 3G cover to eliminate the noise. That is the only way. So there is nothing wrong with the current cover you have, it is just a wrong cover for your iPad.

No need to send back the Wifi cover either. Welcome to use it or discard it (perhaps pass it as alone to a Wifi user, who deserve a well made product : )
Please tolerate the noise in the mean time until we release the 3G cover that fits perfectly! Currently in testing. We promise it will fit wonderfully. Testing is about 10 more days. All Switcheasy product enjoy a 2 year warranty due to our extensive testing procedure so you can purchase anything we create with confident. Knowing it will last : )

But If you don't want to put up with the noise, we totally understand and happy to issue you a refund. That is not a problem. Let us know either way. Once again sorry for the inconvenience we caused.

Thanks for the heads up, was considering getting it. I will keep the 3G one on my radar.

I think English is not the primary language there, lol!

Glad it helped. Wanted to start a new thread to catch people before they buy. They should say this on their site... :confused:
 
I'm in Australia and I ordered one. I have it now, and yes, it does squeak and does not fit the top of the 3g model well. I paid $15 u.s for the shipping and don't want to have to send it back for a refund.. But would love a version that fit properly...

Awww, got mine yesterday (delivered) for my 3G I get on the 28th. Maybe I'll email them once I get it, see if they can send me a replacement. Thanks heaps for the info.

OP said they are going to send him a replacement and he can keep the squeaky one. You should give that a try.
 
They basically told me that yes they are different and to watch for the 3G version... no swapping will be happening here as they are not recognizing this as any sort of issue - that 3G owners bought a case made for the wifi.

Jennifer, feel free to send the Wifi case to me! I'm a Jennifer, too. How that is relevant, I don't know, but I wanted to share.

I think this is excellent customer service.

Same as the OP, seems this will be their stock letter to folks with 3G who bought a case that was designed for wifi?

*edit* I then emailed him asking if I was going to just automatically be sent a 3G case when they were ready, his reply was:

"Dear Scott ,

Absolutely! We will send you a 3G Case

We made a mistake on our website, not clarifying the distinctive
difference between the WIFI and a 3G unit.

Welcome to keep the current WIFI case. We will send you a 3G case when
it is ready to be released. Sorry to make you wait..

The only downside to my story is that I have the wifi iPad. Lol... :rolleyes:

same here and i got almost the exact same emails from both Lexi and Zoltan.

They are sending me a replacement. I can't complain about the service. They are fast to reply and quick to act.
 
Having seen this thread and having pre-ordered Marware's SportShell Convertible for my 3G, I decided to write to Marware to ask them if they are working on a 3G variant of their case. I specifically mentioned how SwitchEasy is coming out with a 3G-specific case because of fit differences. I got a nice note back from them saying that they have no plans to make a separate case for the 3G; that they've tested their case on both models and found that it fits properly on each. I wonder what percentage of case manufacturers are going to take SwitchEasy's approach, versus how many are going to stand by the one-size-fits-both model?
 
Me Too!

I got the same stock response from SwitchEasy when telling them about my squeaky 3G issue. I guess that's what I get for being an early adopter :) plus my dad will be happy he is getting a free case for his wifi from me :p

+1 for SwitchEasy customer service
