so far, i am very happy...and my wallet is too. :)

i finally came to the realization that i was not fully utilizing my mbp like i should have been. i don't do any video design and never will. my main function is audio related stuff. i use serato scratch live & ableton most of the time. on top of that, i do general web surfing, email, minimal graphics stuff, and that's really about it. the mb can handle all of that with no sweat.

sold my c2d mbp last week in anticipation of new mbp's. then i really thought about it hard and long; did i really need a mbp? not really. the mb is powerful enough to do everything i need it to do. i owned an ibook once and i said i would never own one again because they felt so cheap and plasticy. that is not the case with the new mb's. i've also owned about 4 different pb's/mbp's only because they feel very solid, love the aluminum casing, backlit keyboard, and the overall sexyness of them. but the black macbook really has grown on me since it came out. with last weeks updates, i decided to make the switch. glad i did. this is a great little portable!

only complaint so far is the sharp edges where my wrists are! not sure why apple didn't smooth them down a bit. other than that, this baby rocks!

i'll probably hold onto this until the ultraportable comes out that everyone is talking about. i have a 12" powerbook that my girlfriend won't give up because it's such a nice piece. i love that little notebook.

two thumbs up from a previous mbp owner! ;)

Glad to see you're happy with your purchase! Did you get a white or black MB? What specs? Just curious.

I was a bit torn too between a blackbook and MBP. I ended up with an MBP largely because of a closeout deal and because I can't deal with glossy screens. And I have a 12" pbook that I use for travel. So far the MBP just sits on my desk. But I may move overseas again, in which case the MBP will move :)

According to his title he got a black one.

It's always nice to save money!! I doubt I could switch back because of the screen size. (I run dual monitors on my Windows PC)

... I would have traded you...:( . But you got what you need, that's cool. You see, I am one who wants a MBP for the dedicated VRAM, but owns a black MB, oh well.

Hey
What area are you in. I'm kicking around the idea of trading down from my MBP to smaller macbook. Original poster appears to be around Dallas, so I'm assuming you might be too.

IMO, the real need for lots of vram would be for gaming or video editing. i could be wrong but that is what i believe. i can honestly see just watching videos on youtube and crap like that, this macbook can handle it with no problem at all.

Well, I'd love to do something. I'm over in KY, so I'm not really in texas, but not too terribly far from Texas (a couple 100 miles:confused: ), but a little inconvinient. Just curious, but what are your MBP's specs? Hope I'm not too far away...
