Hi Everyone

Just got my new ibook (80 gig hd, 1g ram) and I am not sure what to do! I have wireless internet in my house so should I just turn my ibook on and start using it?

I have never owned a mac before so I am not sure if there are special things to do.

Should I download updates etc first, then install my programs - mainly office and my ipod. Also, if I have 2 ipods can I use the same itunes for both of them since you usually have to put in the code for the ipod you are using itunes for.

I'm confused so I would appreciate any help!
Thanks for your time.

your mac will detect the wireless internet automatically......the OS will ask you a few questions and stuff about prefs and what not ......you should learn the keyboard shortcuts....i think thats the biggest learning curb with macs...aside from that, enojy! when i got miine, i didnt realyl ask anyone for help, because i loved figuring new stuff out with my mac....but someone like instant gratification...but heres a site with those shortcuts http://davespicks.com/writing/programming/mackeys.html#boot

No. Macs are a bit different from Wintel-machines. You are supposed to put the iBook on your bookself, and just admire it from a safe distance.

Seriously: Macs are computers. Use them to do the same things you would do with a Wintel-machine :).

If you are online, new updates are checked automatically. After the latest updates are installed, install your apps, and start enjoying your new system :)

yea, I had my G5 for about a year and never really knew any mac owner so I figured stuff out on my own. my distant friend had one and I would ask questions but honestly ask questions is what I recommend because for the 1st 3 months, my PowerMac G5 was a expensive CD/DVD player untill i got programs i wanted on it and learned where stuff was :D

Here's what you should do: ENJOY IT!

It should all just work out of the box and you'll have a nice little welcome movie before you set up your user details.

If you're really stuck, Apple Support has a Mac 101 guide here

otherwise this is a really good place to ask questions and pick up useful tips

congratulations on your new purchase :)
