Hi everyone,

I have a few questions for the switchers out there. I have long been considered an apple fanboy but over the years, I have diversified quite a bit towards Android, notably in the past few years where I got the Note 9 and then the Folds, as well as a tablet such as the S5e (still keeping an iPad because, well...iOS tablets are superior).

Still, I am now considering getting back to iOS via the 12 pro max (I love large displays).
Indeed, although I tend to find that the OSes have tended to converge over the years, I still feel that iOS has a distinct advantage in at least 2 respects : (i) gestures shortcuts which I find more fluid and optimized in iOS and (ii) apps. Indeed, although most standard apps I use such as Twitter, Evernote, Pocket, Kindle, Netflx...are very similar and work well, I found there are a dearth of good "niche" paying apps in the Playstore, such as Due for iOS, a great reminder app for instance, for which I never found an equivalent on Android, or Pdf Expert, which is head and shoulders above similar PDF apps I could find in Android.
Finally, the addition of Widgets and the power of Shortcuts, seem to allow for a lot of the customization that used to be an Android prerogative.

So, I am wondering (i) why you switched from Android to iOS and (ii) if you miss some particular stuff. I know something I would miss is the "file explorer" with a computer-like folder structure and the ability to easily download stuff over the internet.

thanks !

I switched because of the superior hardware and applications, more stability, and longer-running OS support. I don't miss anything from Android though I was a power user from its inception and rooted my devices and installed custom ROMs. I still have seven Android tablets and three phones, all unused. My primary devices now are a 2018 12.9 Pro and XS Max.

I use FilBrowser for Business as a general purpose file manager and create computer-like folder structures within it.

Wow, filebrowser looks like a great app ! I was indeed looking for a better way to sync some files from onedrive. What I do right now is using pdfexpert for pdfs and documents for videos : both allow me to sync folders and when I edit pdfs in pdfexpert they sync back. However, I have been having more and more issues with having to redownload everything and sync is slow.

Would filebrowser suit me ? It seems I can sync a whole folder but can I use a file and open it in another app (such as a pdf editor ?) and then it will be sync between devices?
thanks!
