I am getting rid of the installments, and want to pick one of these two phones. I owned the Note 8 briefly before the X came out, and liked it a lot. It was a bit tall IMHO, but I could deal with it. I am going to pick them up second hand, so it's paid off. What would be your recommendations and why? I'll have to figure out how to get my photos into my MAC photos easily, that would be my only issue by going back. I just can not justify the X costs for a small screen and being limited on what I can do vs Android phones.

But is there a way to not hook up the phone to the MAC, like the iPhone did using a cloud service?

Definitely the note 8. You have so much options: flikr, Google photos, Dropbox, Google drive and one drive. They are all cloud ☁️ based app that you can use for photos.

On the note 8 you also get 15 GB storage from Samsung in there Samsung cloud.

Note8 is the best bang for the buck you can get right now. You can use AirDroid to wirelessly transfer/view everything from Android to Mac it works like Apples continuity.

use apps like "airdroid" or or "airmore" or bunch of other wifi file transfer. you can not only drag and drop files without wires, you can do whole lot more. that's the flexibility of android. because it's browser based, you can use windows, mac, linux. any computer anywhere.

i'm using v30 yet voted for note 8. there are few things i like about v30. v30 is a good size, note 8 is taller. v30 is great for audio, one of the best if you are really into music. i like the wide angle pics on v30. it really doubles/triples the area. i mean, you can't really go wrong with either. both are top notch phones.

Lol, top notch without actual notches!

How’s LG been doing this year getting security updates out to everyone? I came very close to getting a v30 last year but was not sure how good LG would be at keeping up with updates. I was warned it wasn’t so good in 2016.
