iOS Switching from Free to Paid

I currently have a free app in the store and want to switch to paid with an upcoming update. My question is, will current customers get the update for free or will they have to pay to update?.

Basically the app now is free (version 1.1) and I want to switch to paid with the upcoming 2.0 update which I have already submitted. So will the owners of 1.1 get 2.0 for free?

Correct, current owners will get the update for free.

It seems they get charged though, here u can see the comments after heat pad switched to paid with 1.1
