Okay folks, thanks for any help here. Right now i have an awesome setup but unfortunately i can barely use the internet, but it is a great sound machine. I have 2 m-audio cards.. one revolution 5.1 which runs digital coaxial cable to my receiver. The other card, an audiophile runs from my preamp from my record player into the rca jacks on the card. These are pci-x cards which will not work on the 4,1 mac pro i am buying. What options do i have to maintain my sound quality and 5.1 setup? I love my music and cannot do with a low grade suibstitute. Thank you!

There may be far better and cost effective alternatives... however you could keep your existing PCI-X cards and use an external PCI-X expansion chassis that connects via a cable to the PCIe bus of the 4,1. THese come up very frequently on the used market of ebay.

Good luck,

Will this Onkyo device do the job?
