I have an iPhone on a FamilyTalk plan and I am eligible for an upgrade in June 2010. However, I've been thinking about switching to a Bold.

I was wondering if it was even possible for me to switch at this point, earlier than I am eligible? Could I just buy an unlocked Blackberry from somewhere and put my SIM card in it and change the data plan from iPhone to smartphone? Or am I locked into an iPhone plan? Thanks.

Yes you're correct about buying an unlocked one. But I'd just early-upgrade your line for the Bold (Unless any other lines on the account are fully eligible), not sure how much that'd be, but most likely cheaper than a (used) unlocked BB Bold. Sell your iPhone to pay for the early upgrade from AT&T.

It costs $483 for me to upgrade my phone to the Bold:eek:

How much would a used 8GB iPhone 3G go for?

So therefore, trading an unlocked one without a contract would be similar to the value of a Bold?
