Switching from iPhone to HTC - Emails & Calendar

Hi,

Long story kept as short as possible: I am going to switch from an iPhone to an HTC (Android).

At the moment, I sync my iCal and Mail on the Mac with my iPhone via mobile me, and was hoping to keep everything as unchanged as possible when I move over.

I cannot find any fool-proof way of syncing my iCal (and the several calendars I have in that, each with their own colour) with Google Calendar, without using MobileMe, so that it would show up on the HTC as individual calendars - is this possible?

Also, regarding e-mails, is the only option (given that I wish to get rid of MobileMe) to set up a Google Mail account and tell everyone to e-mail me on that / change any e-mail subscriptions to that?

Are you look for something that's free, paid once, or a subscription model?

I have BusySync, and it allows me to share whichever calendars I have on my desktop with Google calendars, and then I sync those to my Android device.

What's really nice about this set up is that I can change and edit the details on the desktop, in the webapp, or on my phone with almost no problem at all. BusySync makes every calendar read/write.

Thank you for the reply! BusyCal looks fantastic - thank you for linking me to it as well!

From what I can tell elsewhere, the e-mails should be fine if I use the POP3 settings which I can get if I call Apple!

Warning for MobileMe users
BusySync has read-only access to calendars hosted on the new MobileMe Calendar. You can use BusySync to publish MobileMe calendars on your LAN, or to Google, but the calendars will be read-only and not editable by others on your LAN or on Google. If you need to publish MobileMe calendars on the LAN, or to Google, with read/write privileges, you may use BusyCal, which has full read/write access to MobileMe calendars.
