I can't figure this out, i have an external display connected but it only shows the windows that i drag into it from my macbook display.

I want my external to be my "main" display with the dock etc. - on most laptops there is a shortcut key to switch. Can anyone help me?

Go into System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement and then drag the white menu bar to the other screen. It's so simple I missed it myself.

Edit: nvm that works perfectly...dumb me. Is there a way I can close the lid of the macbook without it going into sleep?

There was a program called InsomniaX for Tiger but I don't know if it works in Leopard. Or you can plug in a keyboard and mouse and it won't go to sleep and keep the external monitor up.

Any way to disable the macbook screen...because it shows an annoying red border around it, and part of that border shows up on my external screen.
