Hello,

I am going to be switiching from the MBP pro to a 21.5 this month, and am trying to determine the best way to go forward.

All of my current software, music, photo's etc are on my MBP. I need to sell my MBP pro to subsidize the cost of the new iMac, but I am trying to determine what is the best way move my data from my 2009 MBP so that I can access it on the new iMac.

I have a 500GB hard drive in the MBP, but I am only using about 200GB of it. I also have a 320GB external drive as well.

Anyone have a good idea of how to go about this?

The main reason for the switch is that I own my own business, and while I like the MBP, I work a lot out of my home office and the bigger screen would be better since I usually work in the office anyway. I am thinking that once the iPad 2 is released I will pick one of those up for mobile computing in addition to my iPhone 4, as I believe it's great for content viewing and light editing, and wil leave the content creation to the iMac.

Thank you in advance.

Or connect the two with a FireWire cable and run migration assistant and that will take care of everything. Your new iMac should ask you about doing this when you boot it up the first time anyway.
