I've been trying to find out what my best solution is for this situation:
I have a very large photo library on my iMac. This includes a large number of high quality resolution photos which I do not want to lose. I also have a lot of photos on my iPhone. While I use My Photo Stream to get pictures from my phone to my iMac, I have never used iCloud Photo.
Now that My Photo Stream is going away, I am debating turning on iCloud Photo across all my devices. However I am not sure if I will lose the high resolution pictures on my iMac. If I turn it on, how can I ensure that none of my (local) high resolution photos will be lost? And if I turn it on across all devices, how will the iCloud Photo service account for the two different libraries (one on my iMac and one on my iPhone)? Thoughts? Advice?
