hi all, i'm a pc user, but after trying an iBook g4... i'm in love with macs (i already was a "Mac wannabe" since the first powermac g4 though)

and now that i'm into buying a notebook, i thought "this is the moment to switch to mac!" but i have some questions..

Apple announced this year, that they are switching to intel processors, starting next year... should i wait a year (or more) to see what comes?

Or should i make an insane step, and buy one of those expensive PowerBook G4 15" (2000€)
but then, iBook its a lot less expensive... does buying a powerbook compensates over "his" little brother?

thanks in advance :)

It has a better and bigger screen, a faster CPU (not by much), A superdrive (14inch ibook also has it), A faster and bigger Hard drive, You can have more ram than the iBook, 64MB Vram (Ibook has 32).

It also has a better and backlit keyboard (not 12'')

I have an iBook and I really like it.

I dont regret not buying the powerbook.

Hope this helps

Welcome aboard. :)

The price difference between the PowerBook and the iBook doesn't fully represent the difference in performance or features at the moment IMO.

Don't worry about the Intel switch, it won't happen for a while and the changes won't be as noticeable to the end user as everyone seems to make out. Buy an iBook now if you need or want one now. :)

If you will be considering the use of a larger external display, then you'll want to upgrade to the PowerBooks, but otherwise the iBooks are fantastic for
most users needs.

If you want to get something now to hold you over, consider the refurbs.
I just bought my daughter the 12" ibook 1.33 GHz/ 512 MB G4 for $799
at the refurb store online.
