Hi, everybody. I've been a lifetime Mac user until my college required me to get a PC. Now that I've been here for 4 years, my computer continues to fall apart to the point where its become a staitonary computer (Dell laptop). Anyway, I've decided that I'm coming back to the fold and am hoping to buy a laptop this summer.
I'm going off to grad school in the UK next September, so I'm trying to figure when I can get the most for my money on a Mac laptop. I was thinking of getting a MacBook Pro but wondering if Apple would be improving it anytime in the near future. Also, with the MacBook coming out, I was wondering if I can get a slightly lesser version of the Pro for a good price deduction. Any help pr thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

What grad program are you going into?

A MacBook would be perfectly suitable for many classes, would be cheaper and lighter and likely cooler, and would allow for the purchase of an external monitor for your dorm/apartment while still costing less than an MBP.

On the other hand, an MBP will have much better graphics and screen resolution.

The differences in CPU are unlikely to matter much to you, IMHO.

As always, wait until you must buy, then buy what you can afford. The MBP won't likely change a whole lot in the near term but could see revisions before you leave for grad school.

I didn't know a college could "require" you to buy a PC. Thats ridiculous I would never go along with that or attend that college.
