Hi Guys,
I just got excited of playing the SWTOR on Mac, but after the very first launch realised that it is not that nice and fluffy. Actually, the game freezes every 15 seconds which is incredibly annoying. On the other hand, I saw people playing through Parallels on the machines 2 years older than mine (here is one of the examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhARzreto48). What should I do to make it work?

P.s. Running Win XP for now

Plays great in Bootcamp with Windows 7 on my 2012 cMBP. Even with 16gb of ram I can't imagine that SWtOR would perform very well in any VM.

Wrong forum..

Heck I don't even think the MBP forum is right, probably gaming

Well, it is not a matter of working flawless on the maxed out graphics. It is just so that it doesn't every bloody moment.

You would probably get much better answers in the gaming forum. This is the Mac Pro (desktop) forum.

All I can suggest is that you ensure Parallels is the latest and to ask others what settings they are using in the game so you can match theirs. Probably you will need to lower your resolution far below its native retina resolution.

Also, I don't know much about MBP, but I know some have powerful discreet graphics chips and some do not. I would actually assume a 2-year old MBP with a discreet chip and without having to push retina would outperform a current laptop with integrated chip and retina display.

Boot camp is your best option if you want to game on your Mac.
It's sad, but true.

DirectX through virtualization is not going to perform as well as a native boot.

Most Noobs of the Old Republic abandoned the game when they reached max level, the gameplay being limited once they arrived there.
If you want a Mac friendly MMORPG try WoW, it will run smooth as glass on a rMBP.

Thanks for the hint, but a prefer SWTOR galaxy over the slightly aged one of the WoW. For me it is more of a case of levelling and getting to a couple of flashpoints before getting board and stop playing.

Fair enough, but when you have exhausted the attention span of SWTOR, consider the fact that most of the WoW players that switched during the Cataclysm expansion returned for Mists of Pandaria stating that the Star Wars game's development was badly planned and that max level content was negligible compared to the constantly expanding WoW environment/content.
The reason WoW has been around so long and still pulls over 10 million players to it, is the relentless development of content.
I sincerely hope SWTOR's devs pick up on this and expand it in the same way instead of just taking the money and running.
