Ok, now that everyone has had time to try out both Swype and Swiftkey, and now that Swype is free in the app store (so they are of equal cost), which do you prefer and why?

I'm including a poll so that results may be more easily visible to anyone trying to make a decision and doesn't want to read through 5 pages of posts.

First. I prefer swiftkey, it's what I used for years on android and even though it's not near as good on ios I like it. I think it will come along. I don't care for the swipe method at all.

I think they are for 2 different types of people. Swipe for swipe typing and swiftkey for traditional. I don't think they really compete against each other.

SwiftKey offers swipe input as well, so in a sense they are similar in the respect.

Similar, but swipe is designed (layout) more FOR swipe while swiftkey to me is designed more as a regular keyboard that has swipe. That may not make sense to you , but that's the way I see it. I probably should have been more specific, while swiftkey has swipe it's more of an option while swipe IS swipe. I don't see them in direct competition really.

I guess I can see what you are saying. Seems like for swipe typing either one can be used, but Swype can likely be somewhat more tuned for it.

Neither. I found Fleksy to be a better traditional keyboard because of the way I could swipe through predictions, redo and undo, and the fact that you can change the height.

For the way I use my phone, I found TextExpander to be the best choice because I generally type the same things over and over. It doesn't correct you, but that is honestly something I can live with.

I'm so used to typing on screens because I've been doing it since 2007, that Swype doesn't make any sense.
