Sygic Nav - North America (Got my money back)

Ive posted several reviews about this product, but decided to get my money back. Its just not a good piece of software compared to any standard navigation system.

-Constantly telling you to take a U-Turn on a straight street instead of just having you go straight to your destination... You could be 100 feet from the street you need to be on, but it wont take you to it all the time. It will have to turn around and take an adjacent route to get to where you want to go. Ridiculous.

-Cities are divided into townships... meaning if you want to search for an address, you need to either search by zip code or township name. Really impossible if you dont know where you are and are not familiar with the area.

-Pushed to go to walmart and intentionally went off track... after 7 u-turn requests (and U-Turns are set to avoid btw) it decided to route me to someone's house nearly 15 miles away... randomly. Obviously I didnt follow these BS directions, but it kinda made me laugh. G-Map has also had bouts of doing the same thing - which makes me wonder if they are using the same technology.

AVOID THIS PRODUCT - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. It just cant compare to real navigation systems. Hopefully TomTom isnt this stupid.

I am in the process of reviewing Mobile Maps and haven't had any of these problems at all. I've used it to route me around the Boston area for almost 2 weeks now (I got it the day it was available) and I've seen it take a little longer than expected to get me oriented at the start of a trip once and give me a slightly unexpected route to one location one time. These are issues I've experienced many times with the TomTom units and software I've owned for years, including the TomTom Go 720 I own now. So far, I think it's quite good for a phone-based navigation app.

Might be good in a City that is the size of Boston. Do you have townships? Around here there are a ton of townships and you have to know what they are or you cant find a street name to navigate to. Its pretty ridiculous. Try to type an address in thats a Bethlehem PA mailing address, and it doesnt show up. I had to type in the township name as the city name - which is obviously wrong.

I have it as well and a few things keep bothering me.

The lag is horrible. It can be 3-4 blocks behind sometimes and then suddenly jump to where I am, then jump ahead and then lag again. My Garmin never does that. It can also take 10 seconds to realize I've turned a corner before it does.

Then the street names constantly flickering on and off.

I bought G-Map U.S. West and I'm loving that allot more. That seems to be closer to what my Garmin can do and there are searcheable POIS such as gas stations and restaurants. I think this app is 90% close to getting it right. A little more work and it will get there! Plus it's only $34.

I experienced that U-turn bug too. I was 100ft from walmart to my right and it wanted me to go 300ft and make a U-turn. I deleted the app asap. I use navigon now.

You are right, that puts us at a little bit of a disadvantage. (Trivia: Did you know Pennsylvania has more 'political subdivisions' [townships, boroughs, villages, cities, etc.] than any other state?) I can completely relate. I wonder what about their approach makes it different than other GPS software. This would be disastrous to use in a place like Pittsburgh when there are hundreds of thousands of "Pittsburgh" addresses that fall into another 'political subdivision.'
