Symbols not supported

I have noticed that shortcuts that begin with @ don't seem to be supported in iOS5. I had several shortcuts to make tweeting easier (for example @a was meant to turn into the persons full twitter name), and they were not working. However, I decided to try changing the shortcuts to the persons initials (ex. aw), and it worked

Anyone else running into this? I found it weird they would let me set it...just a glitch, or are they really not allowed?

you are correct, it does not let you use the @ symbol and possibly other onese too, I only tried the @ symbol though.
