iPod sync an ipod set up on another computer??

Is there a way to sync my iPod on my new MB that my friend had set up for me prior to me getting my MB? When I plug it in it will recognize my iPod but will not sync (transfer) the music that he put on it, to my MB?? Am I doing something wrong?? I am NNEEWW to mac, so go easy on me.

You can only transfer over purchased music with iTunes. There is software out there like Senuti that will allow you to 'rip' music from your iPod.
