I have two major issues:
1. I am not able to process Outlook meeting requests that are emailed to me
2. I am having BIG trouble syncing my calendar to my home computer

I post this because the vast majority of outlook calendar posts had to do with Exchange.

I have an XP box that is running MS Outlook 2003 Client. On that client, I have a GoDaddy hosted email acct setup that delivers mail to a .pst. I have contacts and a calendar associated with that .pst. I have all the proper boxes checked in itunes to sync all calendars and sync all contacts yet when I sync, I receive the contacts, but not all of the calendar appts come over. It appears that anything not created on my XP box, ie anything that was entered on my calendar via Meeting Request, did not come over to the phone. In addition, i created an appt on my iPhone calendar and when synced, it did not propagate to my PC.

This is a HUGE deal for me as the calendar app is my bread and butter. on my WinMo device, I am in the habit of syncing two different profiles to deep my work and home calendars in sync. Exchange is not an option as my work exchange only allows external connections via http over TLS which requires me to put in settings that don't appear in the exchange setup.

Looking for any work arounds/fixes that would at least mitigate these issues. Not adverse to running a different mail client on my home box if that would somehow do the trick on the sync issue, and i am willing to do just about anything to get the meeting requests to process via email.

Missing Calendar Events in Outlook 2007

I am also having problems with my calendar events that I create on the iPhone. They won't show up in my Outlook 2007 calender. Specifically, the events won't show in the Day/Week/Month views, but will show in the "Category" list view. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2007 and I also restored my iPhone, but none of those fixed the issue. I can also see all of the calendar events in the Outlook Today view. This is really bizarre, because the 1st gen iPhone worked flawlessly with my Outlook calender and so did my BB Curve. Since Outlook syncable Tasks are not available on the iPhone, my Calendar events have become very important, as I also use them as Tasks. Does anybody have any ideas??

I tried doing this today also, as I usually forward my meeting requests to my phone. It used to work flawlessly on my Windows Mobile PDA phone with a "ACCEPT" or "DENY" option.

I acme to find out that it doesn't work at all with the 3G iPhone. I end up getting the email message with a meeting.ics attachment that does not open.

This really sucks. I surely hope apple fixes this very soon.

Confirmed views are an issue. I found yesterday that i could see everything in Active appts view as well as the Today screen view and Categories. I am using Outlook 2003. Very odd behavior indeed.

Right now the only big thing for me is the inability to process Outlook meeting requests. If someone finds the answer to THAT one, i will be good to go

appt's entered via Meeting request appear with start time2 hours later

My problem is similar.

Anything that was entered on my Outlook 2007 calendar via Meeting Request, appears in my phone calender, but mentions a start time which is 2 hours later than in Outlook (so 14:00 becomes 16:00 on my phone).

In addition, I also created an appt on my iPhone calendar and when synced, it did not propagate to my PC.

If my calender is not reliable or cannot be used to make appt on the go it is of no use.

seems like I have the same issue. Anything added to the calander on my PC does not go to the phone. I am still annoyed with it taking 25+ minutes to sync the phone. I reinstalled itunes and still same issue.

I seemed to have fixed my issue.

I followed the instructions in this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692
Here are the specific steps that I followed:

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  3. Click the Syncing tab.
  4. Click the Reset Sync History button.

If the issue continues and you know all of the data is on the iPhone or iPod touch:

  1. Reset the Sync History again using the steps above.
  2. Remove all of the contact and calendar information from Outlook. (I actually moved all of my contacts and appointments to another .pst folder, just to be on the safe side.)
  3. Select the device in iTunes and click the Info tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Advanced section and under "Replace information on this iPhone/iPod" make sure Contacts and Calendars are not selected.
  5. Click Apply.

For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to disable third-party add-ins:

  1. Open Outlook 2007
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
  3. Select Add-ins from the left column.
  4. Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and determine if anything is listed other than the "iTunes Outlook add-in." If so, continue on to disable those add-ins.
  5. In the Manage box, click COM Add-Ins, and then click Go.
  6. In the COM Add-Ins dialog, deselect the checkbox for each third-party add-in in this list.
  7. Click OK.

I deselected ALL of the addins except the "iTunes Outlook Addin".

I have now tested it by creating, deleting, and editing Calendar appointments on both the PC and the iPhone and everything seems to be working fine in the Day/Week/Month views!:)

I tried this at home and it seemed to at least help that sync. I only sync music, video, photos and apps. and reseting the history got the sync from about 20 plus minutes on the home PC to what seemed like a minute or so. I hope this helps at work to. Thanks Connectit

Update: tried at work and the backup and contacts sync was pretty quick but stuck on calander sync for 22 minutes so far. I tried unclicking everything in addins (I have Outlook 20007) but does not seemed to have fixed my issue. Will try again when it finishs and also see if info shared or not.

Groupwise Appts and Iphone

I regularly receive appts forwarded out of my Groupwise corporate email system to my iMac. On my iMac, I double click the meeting.ics file and it posts to my iCal. I then can sync up with my iphone. However, with the new 2.0 iPhone update, I now can see my emails pushed from Groupwise, but the appts show up as the meeting.ics file but I cannot open or click this file. Why doesnt the iphone recognize this fiel when my iMac does? AND, does anybody have a workaround?

I am experiencing similar problems. Items from my iPhone are not shown in Outlook 2007 (I have to see if I can se them in other views), but items entered in Outlook do sync to the iPhone.

I also have an issue with the tel numbers in contacts. I was organizing a contact and assigning the right number to the right field (work number, "work" field) but lost it on Outlook after the sync.

The sync process seems just a little off, most everything works well just the odd issue which can be rather annoying.

Solved sync issues Outlook 2007

I followed the advice and I did deselect ALL of the addins except the "iTunes Outlook Addin". Then my Outlook 2007 crashed and notified me that a (microsoft) solution was available:

An update is available for Outlook 2007 that improves Internet Calendar functionality and improves compatibility with IMAP servers:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950219

Now my appt's from meeting requests sync OK and appt's created on my iphone migrate to my outlook as they should.

So strange how items entered in on the iPhone appear on Outlook 2007 monthly view right after the sync but then disappear when you close the Outlook and reopen it.

Nevertheless, as someone wrote earlier, those same items entered in iPhone do appear on the Today screen.

Does that mean it's an Outlook 2007 problem?

I wish you would tell us what you did...

I have the same problem. I applied the Update to Outlook, and it went a bit better...

The good news: A new appointment is moved from iPhone to Outllok
The bad news: the appointments moved from iPhone to Outlook disappear the next time I syncronize....

EDIT: Curioser and curioser... I was watching the Outlook Calender while iTunes was synching over some test appointements from the iPhone. I saw them in the Calender, but then when sync function was finished, they disappeared again!

Sorry for the delay.

Okay for the record I have been following along here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7630866#7630866
as we are not the only ones having the issue. I have to be honest I think a combination of what I found in that thread and this thread did the trick but honestly not sure exactly what but here is what I did and now I have another issue. First I did go and make sure Outlook 2007 was updated, in Outlook I hit check for updates and it did not show the update. But I followed Pwleunis's link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950219 and ran that update. I than went back into my Outlook 2007 calander and delete appointments from 2000-2007. I then went into iTunes and reset sync history. I hit sync and got this error "iTunes was unable to load provider data from sync services. Reconnect or try again later" I reconnect same thing. I hit sync it seemed to sync nothing as there was nothing showing selected to sync in the tabs. But after that "sync" all the tabs then showed my normal sync set up. This is at work so it is only calander & contacts. I then hit sync again and goes through no problem. Now I was worried about reentering all the reoccurring appointments and went back to Outlook and even though I was sure I deleted them they still appeared. Needless to say I double check by adding appointment in the phone then sync, it went to PC, I deleted in PC did a sync, it deleted from the phone. Tested the same but in the phone and all seems to be playing very nice together and the sync take about a minute as it used to. Now to figure out this other issue without breaking the fix. Again, bizarre as I actually still am showing all the appointments that I thought for sure I deleted.

Here is a tip if you are going to go back and delete the appointment in Outlook http://www.outlookpower.com/issues/issue200701/00001918001.html

I just tried it again this morning as I only did it once at the end of the day and again sure enough it seems to be working just fine the sync now takes about a minute or so give or take.

I hope this helps a little as I know it was driving me crazy!!!!!:eek::)

I also thought the problem was solved, after applying the KB fix to Outlook Calendar, and cleaning up old appointments but then the problems started again.

In summary: The appointments are transferred to Outlook, but often they get mangled so that they do not show up in day/week/year view, only in Events view.

Sometimes they actually show up first time after sync, but then they get hidden after the next sync!

I am giving up, hoping for a solution to the problem!

I had a similar issue in Outlook 2003, everything was syncing but not the calendar.

The Problem: there was a Private Calendar within the outlook folders, so I assume iTunes was syncing the wrong calendar.

The Solution (for me): Removed the calendar I didn't use and the sync worked, but quite slow...

I'm on Outlook 2007 and that fix worked for me. Setting the calendar items in the iPhone to daily recurrence (starting that day and ending the same) forces the item to appear in the Outlook monthly view.

I hate opening the item in Outlook and having to deal with the "do you want to open the item or series" popup.

As a fix to that little quirk, if you go in the Outlook view open the series and then delete the recurrence, the items seems to stick in the Outlook monthly view.

I guess this is as good as it get before there is a real fix from Apple.
