If I had 2 macs that I wanted to use at the same tine (no as in old replaces bee), is there a way I could constantly have data/files and programs constantly be on the other Mac?
I’m thinking iCloud, but it there are any other ways please tell me. Thanks.
 
What I use is Carbon Copy Cloner to back to an external over a network subnet! I have it on daily schedule running at 0200 7days a week and it never misses a beat until a new version for a new OS mayor update andhadtoupdate (freely once and upgrade feature if you wanted it!

I love this program and it makes perfect copy! I dealt pay attention to make sure I keep the shareware keys for expensive programs and email databases!

It might be possible to do this, but if so, it's probably tricky and difficult.

Better to not chase this wild goose.

Let each Mac "be its own Mac", and enjoy the differences between them instead of fighting against it.

My opinion only, and worth what you paid for it...

Clone old to new mac using CCC, Superduper, Chronosync free trials.

If you have Dropbox Plus:
Move all data into Dropbox folder. Sign into Dropbox on the other mac.
Synced data in both directions!

Or buy Chronosync with Chronoagent, it can then sync the two Macs on a schedule, or when it detects file changes in a folder of your choice.

Syncing documents and files is relatively easy.
Syncing programs and settings is probably the trickiest part, and I don't have any suggestions apart from iCloud.

iCloud or any other reliable cloud service (OneDrive, Dropbox, or, should you be so inclined, your own personal NextCloud server) is the only reliable way to go in my opinion and experience. I keep an iMac and MacBook in sync and use iCloud for Documents, Desktop, Photos, and my music library; Dropbox for business-related documents and collaborations with colleagues, clients, my accountant, etc; and OneDrive as additional iPhone photo backup and collaborations with colleagues and clients who don't use Dropbox but Office 365 with Sharepoint/OneDrive instead.

I use iCloud to sync my Documents folder and desktop along with photos. Has been working well and let’s me access them from my iPad and iPhone too. They are also synced between an iMac and MBP.
