I am using gmail on my iPhone 13 pro max for email and contacts, mail and icloud are disabled or deleted, When I add a contact on my phone it does not sync with my gmail account. When I have to reinstall gmail all of these contacts are missing. What do I have to do to sync contacts I add to the phone with gmail account on the web.

I should have been more specific. Gmail is already setup with contacts calendars and notes switched on. The last option settings>contact>default account, there is no defaults account otpion to select.

What other account do you have listed, and does it have contacts turned off?

In the Contacts app when you click lists what does it show?

So to test click on gmail on the list and create a contact and see if it syncs with gmail.

You’re then going to need to move the contacts across from iCloud to gmail and disable iCloud contacts to prevent this happening in the future.

Just iCloud and Gmail
Make sure Contact syncing for iCloud is off. Otherwise it will default to iCloud.

Also, you can check where it's getting it's Contacts from…

Open the Contacts app and tap on Lists. The app will show you which Contact groups it's pulling from and saving to.

This shows my Gmail account (I removed the account name) and therefore that's where my Contacts are coming and going on my iPhone.

Actually I resolved the issue by accident. I did not know that Apple Mail could be deleted. When I deleted it Gmail became default automatically.

Thanks for you help, greatly appreciated.
