I've got a photo library of over 20k images. I want to sync them all to my iPad, but it doesn't seem to sync when the iPad is sleeping, and I can't keep it awake for more then 15min due to security settings. Anyone else have issues syncing a large number of photos?

Right now the only solution I seem to have is to wake my iPad back up after it sleeps and re-sync.

So I restarted my iPad and tried it again. After a few thousand images the iPad screen just blacked out and showed a spinning circle. I force rebooted the iPad an now it just boots to the Apple logo and never gets past that. Apple has gone so far down the sewer it's not even funny anymore!

Something is definitely not right in your case. If the device is connected via a cable to a laptop then screen turning off shouldn’t have any issue. Can you try a hard reset instead of just restarting?

Are your 20k images now in iCloud? If so, are you wanting to download them to your iPad? If so, there may be a space constraint on the iPad. I would use settings/photos/optimize iPad storage to avoid this problem.

Since my iPad won't boot I now have to factory reset it. Once it's reset I'll restore from my iCloud backup and then try to sync my Photos library.

maybe not enough room for all the photos on the ipad?

It's a 128G iPad and my photo's library is 100G.

Yeah but don’t you have anything else on the iPad at all?! Out of 128GB, you generally get about 115-117 GB depending on the version of the OS.

You're right, I have about 110G of free space. So should be syncing fine. Will see after the factory reset if that helps.
