So I've been trying to use my iPhone without iCloud and it hasn't been comfortable I can say.

I sync all my data (contacts, calendar) over wifi or cable. Everytime I hit that Sync button, it starts with backup up my whole iPhone which I find very annoying. I have to cancel it each time (read: press the cancel button about 20 times before it responds).

Do you have a tip to make my life easier? (iCloud is out of the question)

My contacts and calendars sync great with Google. Is it iCloud specifically or just "cloud" in general you're avoiding?
Cloud in general. I like to dress like a cat and take pictures of myself. Makes great blackmail material @ NSA

Edit: obviously joking.

Ignoring your weird fetish (which I can't decide if it's genuine or just a p*sstake because someone asked why you have an aversion to iCloud) the problem here is you're trying to do something it's just not designed to do. As Brian said, a primary alternative option would be to choose a different sync service.

I don't know. I dropped the Palm-type syncing method as soon as I could.

Search here at MacRumors…there have been questions in the past about this. Of course, what was valid last year may not be anymore.

As long as I have iCloud disabled, you'll never know!

Unfortunately I did already but I will do another round more thorough.

That reassurance helps me sleep easier.
BTW even if you use iCloud, no one can see your stuff.
There was literally a court case where US feds tried to sue Apple because they wouldn't give feds access to a potential criminal's Apple account. So unless you post illegal stuff (CSAM, ritualistic human sacrifices, etc) you and your fetish are safe.

yeah all those photo leaks were because they just guessed the password correctly with some dictionary attack or something

You mean when they asked Apple for the iPhone 5 login code of the bernardino perpetrator?
