Sync Music between iPhone and iPad?

I have a large local collection imported in Music on my Mac and I select what to sync on my iPhone. I really don't want to go through the same process selecting from my Mac which music to sync on my iPad. I don't subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match; is there an option for my iPad to sync only what is synced on my iPhone?

AFAIK no. Mac (or PC for that matter) has to be the one syncing music to iOS devices.
Given how popular Apple Music is, Apple will also much less likely to consider implementing such a feature but instead force everyone to use Apple Music.
