I have been studying the various sync options and find both Mobileme and the Google suite have flaws. I have an iPhone 3GS, MacBook Pro running 10.6.2 and have ordered an iPad 4g.

Specifically mobileme makes it difficult to use an alias: e.g., user@domain.com, hiding ones mobilme email account but allows subfolders that can echo the dozens of folders I have on AppleMail. On the other hand Mobileme does not allow 3rd party calendars to be synced.

Gmail does not allow mail subfolders to echo my AppleMail folders, which has bothered me on the iPhone but was not crucial, as, to date, I always have traveled with my computer Also I gather that gcal has some syncing limitations with regard to multiple calendars as well.

I do not have an Enterprise account as I am now mostly "retired," but am willing to make a modest investment in syncing tools if I can find the right tools.

I am open to suggestions re tools and strategies. Perhaps also, I have misread the capabilities of Mobileme sync and/or Google sync and perhaps can coax either of them to do what I want.

Please advise and thanks for listening

Ina

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Aliases will be added in OS4 if that helps any.

Aliases to be allowed in iphone os4

That would help a lot and perhaps tilt the scale toward using Mobileme.

Are there any improvements in multiple calendar syncing on the horizon w/ regard to CalDev calendars?

Thanks,
Ina
