I searched & searched for this particular "question," but it is an unusual one that can be worded a million different ways... argh!

I am getting my iPhone on Friday. I understand how it syncs, but I am confused/uninformed on one other thing.

Inside of iTunes, when I am syncing, am I able to tell it NOT to sync with my main library, and just the playlists I select?

Reason is, I am wanting to designate 3G to music, and 3G to movies/TV, and have designated playlists accordingly. I have 14G worth of total music in my library, but I want to know exactly how much I am "selecting" to sync, and the only way to do it (that I know of) is to create a playlist, then check the size of that playlist... make sense?

If I can/should do it a different way, please advise...!

Yes, you can sync just certain playlists. There are many ways to go about that, from just regular playlists, to perhaps a smart playlist sorted by most played, limited to 3 GB, for instance.

Playlist folders in iTunes also work great for seeing how much room a series of playlists take up.

I have a smart playlist to update and put on only tunes that I haven't played before. It doesn't always seem to work.

Awesome!

I figured it was possible, but I've never been *blessed* with the ability of music & movies on the same device (I'm still using my iPod MINI from back in the day, since it still works!), so I've never been forced to decide what I want more, movies or music.

I am assuming movies/TV shows look good/great on the phone?

They do indeed. I love how bright the screen is.

Sweet!

Now hopefully, I don't regret my switch from the crackberry to the iphone.

I've hated my blackberry for the footprint when holding it in my hand, as well as the clunky click wheel... I've read that email is slower to be received on the iphone, but I also don't know if that's 100% true or not... I've been sorely disappointed with the delivery speed and unreliable Blackberry Internet Service (what powers the backend message delivery to you). I had an eight hour outage last week, and found myself worried sick if my servers were up and functional (this happened to occur during an electrical storm)... I know that I can setup my email in Mail, as I have it (my corporate email) verified functional on my Mail in OS X... I will have to deal with the 15 minute check interval, until someone develops a 3rd party mail checker app... hopefully.

Any other tips for this upcoming iPhone n0000b?
