Synched videos stall during start of playback

Is this normal behavior? I have all my TV shows and movies synched to my ATV. If I watch an episode of Weeds, for example, most of the time the video will hang for 10 - 15 seconds during the first 30 seconds of playback. When it recovers, it will sometimes have skipped over a few seconds of the video. If I rewind, the whole thing will playback smoothly...

I have also noticed that my ATV navigation menu will be unresponsive for several seconds in random places (drilling down into My Movies or trying to enter YouTube search criteria, etc.). This seems to occur randomly.

Is all of this par for the course?

How much of the 40 gigabytes do you have used up?

Have you tried streaming instead of synching?

I'm using Take 2, and come to think of it, I haven't tried streaming video since the upgrade. Seems counterintuitive, but maybe that's worth trying. I stream my music library and playback works great.

Reason I asked about streaming is that I don't synch my music or movies any more. I have an 802.11n network and it works beautifully, but it also worked pretty well on my previous 802.11g network.

The thing I was curious about the hard drive was that if you have a nearly full drive, or it's fragmented to hell, you are going to encounter playback issues. I find the drive most useful as nothing more than a buffer for streamed video/audio... with nothing on it, the entire drive is free to buffer without fragmented files or limited space slowing it down.
