Is the only way to synch bookmarks from Safari on a Mac to use icloud? Is there another way?

You can do it in iTunes as well. You don't have to use iCloud.

(I have no issues helping you, but can you at least try Googling your questions first before posting here? I've seen at least 7 threads where you ask a simple question that you could easily find on Apple.com/Google.)

I have bookmarks in Safari, though they are not synching over...

In iTunes in the Other Section there is a checkbox for Synch Notes but not Bookmarks?

This is from a site. I can't confirm if the ability has been removed in iTunes 10.5.

1. Connect iPad/iPhone to your computer.

2. Open iTunes, in iTunes, select iPad/iPhone in the Device section from the sidebar.

3. Click the Info tab, select “Sync Safari bookmarks” under Other, then click Apply to sync the bookmarks between your iPad Safari and the Safari on your Mac.

iTunes lets you choose the content and information that you want to sync with iPad. By default, iTunes syncs automatically whenever you connect iPad to your computer. When you sync, you can also transfer information you create or purchase on iPad to your computer.

For some reason, the option to synch safari bookmarks is not there....I'm attaching a screen grab. I'm not even using iCloud...

Ok, nevermind, I see I had an option turned on on my iPhone to synch bookmarks via iCloud.

----------

What does this even mean? If I have bookmark synching turned on my iphone, this means that I have bookmarks in Safari on my Mac that are not synching over to my 4S and then any bookmarks I add on my 4S are synched to icloud though they are completely independent from the ones in Safari on my Mac?

If you have it on ( and I suggest you do), all of your bookmarks will be the same across all of your devices and Macs that are running Lion. If they aren't try turning it off and then back on.
