So here is the scenario, I have my iPhone and macbook with me. I have access to a wireless network that is not in my keychain.

I enter and connect to the new wireless network on my iPhone.

How do I get the macbook to connect to the iPhone and get the new network in my keychain?

I have a feeling I can't, but it kind of struck me how little I know how all this works.

How often are keychain devices synched?

Do wireless only devices only do this when they are connected to networks already in the keychain?

You won't be able to (unless you type in the password) until the next time your Mac is on wifi, and then the password will sync to it and it will from then on join that new network.

Networks should already be in keychain, even if you add from your phone but I never got the wif keychain stuff to work probably. In theory if you add a new network on your iPhone than your Mac/iPad should also have it like it does with website passwords. However as I said this has never worked for me properly.

I have noticed that for about 1 month keychain sync in general has been atrocious. I even had problems turning keychains off and back on it would just get stuck. That seems to be fixed for now but my keychains still don't sync probably doesn't matter what I try. Hopefully they fix it soon so maybe you should wait but normally keychain sync almost instantly.
