Synching messages across devices?

When I delete some messages from my iPad they still display on my iphone and vice versa. Is there some setting to make it so it synchs after deleting from a device?

Thanks.

It doesn't really sync as much as it makes messages available on all devices. However, when you delete, it only deletes on the device you pressed delete on, not all devices.
