Not sure if I am missing something basic but I can't get my wife's iphone to sync correctly.

I am using MacBook Pro (10.5.7 OS) and itunes (version 8.2).

My kids like to play on our iphones and wanted to have the same games on both. All the applications we got from app store - Free games.

I connect my wife's phone and select the applications that I want to sync and it starts to sync then immediately finishes without adding the applications.

Is there any diagnostic information or debug mode that can tell me why/what is happening? is there something I need to do within itunes on phone to be allowed to sync the apps?

Thanks for you help.

FYI - I tried reboot phone, upgrading to Version 3.0, deleting and re-downloading apps. Also - syncing of apps works fine on my iphone.:confused:

does her phone have any other itunes account associated with it.
If you upgraded to 3.0 it should be cleared unless you resynced with a different computer( say for contacts or pictures) before trying to sync games.

I sync 2 iphones one account all the time. I also did not know if 10.5 may have something to do with it. I'm on 10.4.11 and I have no issues.

Try to download something over wifi and see what account information comes up. If it is you current account you are trying to sync games I'm not sure why, but if it is a different account that may be the problem.

Thanks - but still need help

It is very strange not sure what is happening.

I did sync her iphone previously with her home PC - but decided it would probably be easier for me to manage it for her.

When I go to the app store on the iphone to download a new app - it lists the same username and password account that I use on my iphone.

However, when I tried to update one of the apps that came standard with the phone at the app store - it asked for a different account - one I created for her originally.

That might be the problem with the sync; however - i'm not sure how to change the account settings in her iphone.

Thanks for the guidance and help would be appreciated.

You can try one of 3 things.

1. try to force a sync with your itunes and add music not currently on the iphone or a new playlist. You should get a pop up message asking if you want to change sync locations.

If that does not work.

2 try syncing with her computer and see if it gives you the same option. then try to go back to yours. you will basically be getting rid of the database when you continue with sync

last

3. just DF restore and set up as new phone on your computer

Thanks qnc

I appreciate the options - at this point looks like option 3 is the best.

A few basic questions - How do I do a DF restore?
Can I keep her contact database (either on phone or in backup to restore)?
Is there any other issues you think I should be aware of before doing the procedure?

Many thanks:)

don't worry about dfu.
just restore in itunes and you should be ok.
I would download the firmware you want to use and hold shift and click restore (windows) on option and restore (mac) pick you location for the firmware you down loaded and let it restore.

If there is information you need to save i.e contacts or calendar entries.
you can sync your calendar entries with google calendar. exchange type syncing. google it and you will find directions.

for contacts you should be able to download the free version of
Synthesis Sync ML over wifi. and sync you contacts with any one of the online services. I like mobical it also syncs you pictures. then restore and sync calendar back and then contacts you should be good to go.

Many thanks

qnc - did the restore and re-synced. At first it looked like I was going to have the same problem. Sync started and finished before adding apps.

I used your advice and kicked the apps list (removed one that was already on her phone and added a new one in itunes).

Seems that worked - everything was downloaded correctly.

Thanks again for all your help - really appreciate it.
