Syncing apps from Iphone to Itunes

Hello,

This might seem like a straight-forward thing but i'm scared to death about it. I've been downloading a lot of apps directly onto my iphone. Now I wanna backup these apps onto itunes. When I go to the App tab on itunes to check the sync box, it says "All apps and data on iphone will be replaced with those on itunes". I want it to work the other way. What should I do? I have a 2g iphone.

Right click the phone in iTunes and there is a "transfer purchases" button.

Still, it shouldn't be telling you that it will erase your data if you are syncing with the same computer you've always been syncing with.
