Syncing Firefox Bookmarks

I own two computers, one Mac and one PC (see my sig), and use Firefox as my primary browser on both machines.

What I am curious about is whether or not there is a good way to sync my bookmarks between my machines. I have, in the past, just done in manually with the occasional export/import.

But I will add new sites (or delete old ones) to one machine and not the other fairly regularly and would like some way to keep both of them up to date.

Any helpful advice will be appreciated.

I've been copying the Firefox and Thunderbird folders manually but I've been thinking about picking up my AppleScript book and automating it at least somewhat. It would certainly be easier and probably quicker since I wouldn't have to remember where to go.

Copying the bookmarks.html file between the machines is the straightforward, no-frills way to do it. That works as long as you mentally keep track of which one is most up to date, and copy it to the other one. It sounds like you're interested in actually merging bookmarks that may have been added on both between times when they've been synced, which is a much harder problem.

Probably the best way to do this is to sync them both to a webdav server, or at least that's the conclusion I came to when I wanted to do this a year ago or so. If you search for firefox and webdav, you'll find more information both about the server and about the extensions for firefox that make this easy to do. I never actually got around to setting up a webdav server, though, so I just gave up and went back to the manually copying method.
