I saw a pretty awesome guide here about syncing iTunes libraries between two computers, but unfortunately my problem is a little more complicated. The songs that are actually part of my iTunes library only take up about 8 gigs, but the music folder itself is about 20 gigs, since I've added and deleted things from the library over the years.

What I'm looking for is a way to sync only the songs that are currently a part of my iTunes library. I have some programming experience, and I imagine I could write some kind of script to do it but I don't know how to go about reading the iTunes library (itl) file.

If anyone has any ideas on how to read the itl file, or any better ideas in general for syncing only the music files which are a part of my iTunes library, I would greatly appreciate it.

If anyone would like to jump in and naysay, I guess I can't stop you.

Edit: I guess I should also mention that this would be between two PCs.
