I'm running Mac OS Mojave. I have an iPhone SE running iOS 13.1.3. My Mac iTunes is version 12.9.5.5.

I want to sync the music I have in iTunes to the iPhone as some of the content there didn't come from the iTunes store but was downloaded and added to iTunes. After connecting the iPhone via USB and being required to install a download of something, I clicked on the iPhone icon in iTunes and it brought up a window that included a section, Backups, that gives me a choice of backing up "the most important data on your iPhone to iCloud" or "a full backup of your iPhone will be stored on this computer." This seems to be the opposite of what I want to do - I want to sync my iTunes music to the iPhone.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

That's the Summary page.

The Backup Options are just that: options. I backup my iPhone to my Mac, then, in the event of my iPhone becoming corrupted, I can restore it to the last backup. Plus, in the event of getting a new one, I can set it up from the backup. It's a good thing to do.

To sync your music from iTunes, click on the Music icon in the Sidebar, tick Sync Music, select Entire Music Library or Selected Playlists etc. Then click Apply at the bottom of the window.
