I would like to start using the new beta calendar in MM but I'm having a minor issue. At my work, I am not an administrator on my PC so unfortunately, I can't just install whatever software I please. I may get away with the new MM control panel but there's no way I'd be able to install iTunes (a necessary requirement for syncing I understand).

The way it's setup now, google calendar sync is on my desktop and anything I change is reflected in google calendar. If I can get the same type if thing hooked up with MM I'd consider switching over.

Are there any other things I can try?

You can use MM Control Panel to Sync (2way) or you can share your calendar (public share) and subscribe to it from Ooutlook. This second option does not allow changes to it from outlook.

I'm looking for something similar to this too. I have effectively zero privileges on my work PC so can't install the MobileMe control panel - heck, I can't even get Google Calendar sync to work. I currently subscribe to my MobileMe calendar within Outlook (it's published from iCal on my iMac to MobileMe - haven't been granted access to the beta yet...), but not being able to update from Outlook leaves a lot to be desired.

I think this is the price we pay for working for companies that think every end-user is a complete idiot and will bring down the entire infrastructure of a business if they install software that is 'unsupported'...

So I actually had the ability to install iTunes 9 and the MM control panel. I was so pumped!
Then I went in and tried to set things up only to find the sync checkbox beside "calendar" greyed out. I'm on exchange here at work. No go.

Bah!

I have not tested this (I have the Calendar Beta and Control 1.6.1) but the following says that you should be able to do what you want.

The following is from Calendar Beta FAQ

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4037

? Can I use the beta with Outlook if I also access a work calendar with a Microsoft Exchange Server?

Yes. Microsoft Exchange calendar data is kept separate from MobileMe and can be viewed side-by-side in the calendar applications on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch; on iCal on a Mac; and Outlook on a PC.

I'm having the same issues as the OP.

  • Signed up for Calendar Beta with no issues
  • Mac and iPhone work fine
  • Work PC with Exchange, iTunes 9.2 and MMCP 1.6.1

Calendar sync is greyed out in the MMCP. Re-installed, reboot, etc. doesn't work. Not sure what else to do at this point. Apple Support says they can't help since it's beta. No FAQ has this issue identified. Hope someone can help figure this out!
