Hey everyone,
After many years without it, I am now thinking of activating iCloud for all my documents on the macbook. I would also like to use it for photos and videos on my iPhone to sync them to the Mac and iPad. All in all it'll be round about 200GB. Storage space itself is not really an issue, but I am wondering what it will do to my mobile data.
Let's say I have all my photos and videos on iCloud. Would that mean the original full files are not stored on my iPhone (the original device where I recorded them) anymore (only mostly thumbnails). And whenever I want to open a video it will have to be downloaded from the cloud first? So if I have a big video (let's say 50GB) and I'm out and about and using my mobile data plan (no WiFi), it will simply use all my data without warning me or asking me first if I want to download? So, I could literally very easily use up all of my data plan in the blink of an eye?
PS
I know not all the files are saved in smaller versions at all times, but if I let iCloud take care of the optimization I have no way to influence that. Also turning of mobile data for the entire iCloud doesn't seem like a very comfortable option. It's pretty much only the big files that would cause problems in my case.
PPS
Sorry for my English… I'm no native speaker, but I hope I was able to explain my worries in an understandable way
