How do you sync photos to your phone from the folder structure I used to use for every iOS synced via iTunes? I attempted this on my new iPhone 8 and it wouldn't let me sync anything, saying something about iCloud being turned on or something.

Maybe check to see if iCloud is turned on your phone? You can't sync photos when iCloud photos is on.
That was it. I didn't realize that was a new feature (or at least one that would block my usual syncing habits). Feel like a dummy LOL
There's so many on/off options in settings now it gets a little much. Especially with settings like Restrictions. What the heck is restrictions? Should've just called it Parental Control.
honestly, i used to sync my picture folder with iTunes as it was my way of organizing and backing up my camera roll. with iCloud photos, thats a thing of the past and antiquated. i would NEVER go back to syncing pics through iTunes.
