Hi,

I have a Mac mini with High Sierra, that I can't update to Catalina. After reading this I'm getting worried:

Will I never be able to use the new iOS 13 reminders, without losing the ability to sync with my desktop?

And what about syncing other iCloud services, like Notes, Contacts, Safari tabs, etc?

you can still use the new reminders interface, just not the new features.

and honestly after upgrading mine this morning, i'm not seeing much difference. groups and subtasks, whop dee doo?

as long as you don't upgrade in the iOS app, it will continue sync with your Mac.

I screwed up and hit upgrade. Stupid stupid stupid bonehead. I remembered not to when I installed the iPad beta but had a brain fart and did it with the phone. So great, nothing appears now on the desktop and for what? The ability to change Reminder icons. Yes, whop dee ***** doo.
I thought maybe I could just use the iCloud.com version of Reminders for the time being, but that doesn't show when Reminders are due, no editing, and no lists.
Yes I'm a doofus, but why offer the update to an app when the corresponding desktop OS hasn't even been released?

Are these issues only with Reminders, or is there a similar "Update" option for Notes?

The update to break Notes in the same way was with iOS12. Apple obviously thought this went so well they deiced to do it this year with Reminders.

What gets me is that they put an Upgrade button that can cause so many problems for users in such an obvious, front and center and easy to accidentally hit place.

They should have put that button buried in settings where people can't accidentally hit it. Maybe only put the button on the main page once a user has already upgraded all their devices.

The button should have at least had information about what the ramifications would be to upgrading. Not every review mentioned the Catalina requirement, nor does every person who upgrades reads reviews. The idea that as a company you would allow a piece of software to potentially become less functional without alerting a user seems irresponsible.

That, um, stupid upgrade button is persistent. I would have preferred having it disappear once it was dismissed the first time.
Apple wants you to use “the latest and the greatest”, not any outdated software. So yeah. I also wish that button can go away. Too bad that we don’t have access of advanced iOS management tools.
