I'm a bit confused by the whole "sync ringtones" tab in itunes. If I sync ringtones, it will erase any videos or audio that I have on the phone? I'm sure like many here, I manually manage music and videos, but why would syncing ringtones negate that? I wouldn't bother syncing the ringtones at all, but for some reason when I just drag them over to the iphone in itunes. it seems to make duplicates of the same file and doesn't work nearly as well as dragging mp3s over. I dragged one ringtone over, and it showed up 4 times .... all the same name and same sound both in my phone and under "Ringtones" in Devices in itunes. Here's a link to others that are having the same problem...

Does anyone know how to deal with this?

Create a new playlist, go to ringtones, and sync the selected "Ringtone" playlist.

I'm still confused. If I try to sync anything in the ringtones tab (regardless if it is a new playlist), I get that "Are you sure you want to sync ringtones? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iphone will be removed."

And I can't drag ringtones from my hard drive into a new playlist anyway. I can only drag them into ringtones on itunes and ringtones on the iphone.

what you need to do is erease all the extra inbformation in the ringtone with exception to the name of it example the album info release dates etc. those seem to cause duplicates :( also import it into itunes first then try drag and dropping it over hope that helps you
