iPod Syncing Smart Playlist of Movies to Iphone

I made a smart playlist but it will not sync to the iphone. Its full of video, movies and tv shows. But I can only sync them by checking the individual files when the iphone is docked. This is really annoying, is there a way around this. And why is the window for the movies and tv shows so small in itunes? I mean when your on that tab, and there are two scrolling windows they are so tiny? Why can this be automatic?
