Syncing two iPhones iCloud Photo Library

I've been thinking about that all day and it's driving me crazy. Got a new iPad and using iMovie on it seems like a nice improvement over iPhone. Much more comfortable for small video editing.

However, I have two problems: 1. All my videos are obviously shot with my iPhone. I believe that best way to do that is to use iCloud Photo Library and sync all the pics and videos across devices. 2. Second problem: my wife shoots three times as many videos as I do, especially of the kids. Now how do I get her videos on the iPad? Shared albums suck for that purpose and can't even be used in iMovie on iPad.

The best answer I've found so far would be for both of us to use the same iCloud account. We don't use iCloud for much other than photos and settings backup. This way we'll have one synced iCloud photo library across all our iOS devices. Am I missing something, is there some stuff I forgot that are going to screw me up? Thanks all!

Why do shared albums "suck"?

For this specific purpose, they "suck" because the media shared is shared at a reduced resolution and the videos cannot even be downloaded to my library, hence are not accessible from iMovie. If iMovie could pull from shared albums, that would be a start but even that is not possible.

At this point, I think they only way to sync the two libraries on a continuous basis would be to have both iphones under the same iCloud account (and use the icloud photo library to sync them).

That is frustrating, I understand now. But I would try as much as possible to keep everyone on their own appleid and iCloud account. I just finally split my own family into four separate accounts, and it's been life changing (for me). They (non techies) could care less.
